Samtse Higher Secondary School Celebrates Annual Sports Day 2025

05-04-2025 Samtse HSS

After a long hiatus, Samtse Higher Secondary School came alive with energy, excitement, and school spirit as it celebrated its much-anticipated Annual Sports Day on April 5, 2025. The event was particularly special as it marked the first Sports Day after a gap of seven years—the last one being held in 2018. The long-awaited day brought immense joy and enthusiasm among students, teachers, and the entire school community.
The campus buzzed with activity from early morning as students, prepared to showcase their athletic talents. The atmosphere was electric, with banners, cheers, and lively music adding to the festive vibe. Everyone was thrilled to be part of this landmark event, which aimed not just at competition, but also at fostering team spirit, perseverance, and physical fitness.
The event began with a grand opening ceremony. The Chief Guest for the day was the esteemed Dasho Dzongrab, who graced the occasion with his presence. The Principal of Samtse Higher Secondary School delivered the welcome speech, expressing his delight in reviving the cherished tradition of Sports Day. He emphasized the importance of sports in students’ lives and how such events contribute to their Wholistic development. The Chief Guest followed with an inspiring speech by our principal, motivating students to actively engage in sports alongside academics.
The event was beautifully coordinated by the school’s sports committee members, who ensured that every aspect of the day ran smoothly. The Masters of Ceremony, Madam Sangay Bidha and Madam Dolma Tshering, kept the audience engaged and informed throughout the day with their lively commentary and announcements.
A wide array of field and track events was held, giving students a platform to shine in athletics. Field events included long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin throw, and discus throw. The track events saw thrilling races such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and the challenging 3000m race. Each event brought intense excitement and applause from the crowd, as participants gave their best with determination and sportsmanship.
In addition to the competitive events, there were several fun games organized to entertain the audience and encourage participation from all corners. Activities such as the three-legged race and the cardboard race drew loud cheers, especially as teachers and members of the public joined in the fun. These light-hearted moments added a joyful and inclusive touch to the day's proceedings.
As the day drew to a close, the winners were awarded medals and certificates amidst loud applause and appreciation. The Sports Day of 2025 will surely be remembered as a milestone in the school’s history. It not only revived a long-standing tradition but also rekindled the spirit of unity, health, and camaraderie within the school community.
With hopes of continuing this momentum in the years to come, Samtse Higher Secondary School once again proved that when hearts and hands come together, every event becomes a celebration.
